Even the biblical record in Genesis 4 is not properly translated for it says: ‘And Adam knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bare Cain and then said: I have gotten a man from the Lord. And she again bare his brother Abel and Abel was a keeper of the sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.’
