QUESTION: I have always wondered about John the Baptist because Jesus said: he was greater than any man born of woman, but I don’t understand why Jesus would need to be baptized by John?

Matthew 3:1‑12; ‘In those days came John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness of Judea saying, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. This is he that was spoken of by the prophets saying: The voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the LORD; make his path straight.’ This John had raiment of camels hair, and a leather girdle about his loins; and his meat was locust and wild honey. They went out to him from Jerusalem, and all of Judea, and all the region around about the Jordan River, and were baptized by him in the Jordan confessing their sins’.
